When it comes to getting everything in your dream home exactly right, you spend hours selecting colors for the paint, samples of carpet and wall paper and even sit down with plan after plan to get each room set up exactly how you want it. But unless you've hit the lottery, happen to be a Hollywood celebrity or Wall Street banker making millions of dollars a year you realize that price is definitely an object. This means we have to watch how much gets invested in each room, and the room that can cost the most is the kitchen. But that doesn't mean you can't have that dream kitchen even on a budget.

Here are some tips to help you cut costs while still getting everything in that dream kitchen you want.

1. Find a company that has both great kitchen designs and also does fabrication at their facilities. This cuts out middle men and also expedites the entire process.

2. Do research into all the different designs you have interest in. This gives you the ability to find designs you like and nail down costs. While some of this can be done on the internet, you'll have to call for pricing to make sure you're going to be within budget.

3. Don't forget to account for fixtures and plumbing as well as wiring needs. If you're planning for a central island range top, under cabinet lighting or a garbage disposal, you'll have special needs in these areas.

4. Another aspect of the design is the floor tile. While this may not seem like a key component of kitchen design, the aesthetic aspect will make a huge difference on how you feel about the room.

5. Same holds true for the walls and ceiling. Lighting in the kitchen will be important. One design element could be aimed spots on range top and important counters and sinks.

6. Put in everything you've ever wanted in your kitchen design. While this may exceed your budget, you can also design in the ability to expand what you start with versus what you eventually want. This gives you the ability to start within your main budget and can add on later.

Getting that perfect kitchen design is a matter of getting what you want out of it. Taking the time to ensure you've done your research, built in what you can afford and possibly left room for expansion will give you the ultimate design you need. Take a look online and get a great start on your design.
