| Having a fireplace can vary in the level of difficulty it requires to tend. Some of us actually do own those wonderfully quaint fireplaces, and yet figure that actually building a fire is too much commitment. There's simply too much work involved, despite the persistent idea that having a fire would be nice. Fireplace gas logs make opining in this fashion a thing of yesterday, and they can offer a convenient alternative to the traditional firewood, fire-building paradigm. Fireplace gas logs simplify the fire process so much, because they really don't require that same pre-planning or commitment. If you own a fireplace and don't use it, because you don't fancy doing the legwork--check out fireplace gas logs instead. Building a fire takes a bit of work. You likely head out to the woodpile (if you've thought ahead and collected/bought any wood), retrieve some firewood, and head back to the fire. Then you'll carefully stack and arrange the wood, add a little kindling and some matches, and you've got yourself a nice little roast. Those few steps weren't very inconvenient, but then you want to leave the house all of the sudden, and you realize that you have to put out the fire, because you're unwilling to leave it unattended. But with fireplace gas logs there is no lengthy before and after care, you quite literally just ignite and then extinguish. Many fireplace gas logs respond to a switch and can be turned on and off. Consequently, fireplace gas logs are an exquisite innovation. Firewood is a great constant and a superb original, but gas logs have widely become a new favorite because they're just so simple. It is as if you conjure the fire when you use fireplace gas logs, because it does rather quickly appear from nowhere. And for those of us that have been a little bit coddled by contemporary convenience and society, fireplace gas logs will be a special treat. There are other practical considerations as well, such as storage and wear. And precisely because fireplace gas logs are not stored in the way regular firewood is, they don't create some of those worries. Some concerns of which might include: rotting, insect infestation, or anything of that matter. And while fireplace gas logs can be fashioned to look very strikingly like real wood, they're really not very much like it. They do burn, they do illuminate, they can and do heat homes across the country--but they're just more facile. This facility and simplicity is likely keynote selling point. It would be distasteful to tell another person exactly what to buy, without allowing for their personal tastes. Fireplace gas logs are a stirring innovation that has good potential to simplify fireplace proficiency, but they're not everyone's first choice. At the end of the day you have to consider whether or not you enjoy the aesthetic experience of collecting your own, earthy, textured firewood from your stockpile, and creating a fire your own way. If you enjoy anything out of that experience, even if it's just sentimental, then naturally you'd want to continue in that trend. If you're not so much into the actual fire/actual smoke scenario, you'll want to give the edge to fireplace gas logs. |
