By: Kurt Zier writes about moving at The Home Depot. He covers preparing a house for a move, moving sup
It happens every day; someone gets a new job, goes off to college or gets married and they need a moving trucks rental.  It can be a bit overwhelming but with our moving timeline it can run smoothly.  No need to worry, just take it a day or week at a time.
Six to eight weeks before you move you should survey your home and decide what size of moving trucks rental you will need.  Start gathering your packing materials; if you start now there won't be a mad dash on moving day.  You don't want to find yourself out of tape the day before the big move.
Four to six weeks to go, notify the post office of your upcoming move.  Make a list of friend and relatives (and creditors) that will need to be informed of your new address before you pack up your moving trucks rental and head down the road.
Review your furnishings and as you weed through your belongings re-evaluate the size of moving trucks rental you will need.  This is a good time to have a garage sale or donate items to a good cause.  Don't pack and load something onto the moving trucks rental that you don't need or want.  Start packing items you don't use often.
Two to four weeks out it is time to plan your route, you will need to know how long you will be using your moving trucks rental.  Decide if you are going to ship or tow your car.  Prepare the family by visiting favorite places and maybe even have a few parties.  Talk positively about your move, the sites you'll be seeing along the way and your new home.  Properly dispose of any household items you will not be taking; flammables, explosives, corrosives or any other hazardous materials.  Drain all machinery in preparation for loading on the moving trucks rental.  Have rugs and draperies cleaned, ready to load on the moving trucks rental.  Contact the utility companies and set the shut off date, you will want them on through the day of the move.
One to two weeks and it is time to find homes for those beloved pets and plants that won't be making the move with you.  For pets that are going to be traveling with you in the moving trucks rental prepare the appropriate restraints or kennels for your animals.  Clean out work desks or gym lockers, check with the dry cleaners or repairmen, make sure you have everything ready to be packed and loaded on the moving trucks rental.  Turn in library books, return any borrowed items and collect things you've loaned. Continue packing, you don't want to be in a rush on moving day.
The day before your move double check your boxes, make sure everything is labeled and securely taped.  Taking the time to do it right will make loading and unloading your moving trucks rental that much easier.
The big day, go through closets and cupboards, make sure nothing was missed.  Pack up your moving trucks rental.  Check that all the utilities are shut off, close and lock all doors and windows.  Climb aboard and off you go.  See it wasn't that hard; all you had to do was follow our moving timeline for a smooth move.
