| A garage, even if large and spacious, without garage cabinets and storage accessories is likely to be a place where it is difficult to see what is present and to find what is wanted. It may even be a place too cluttered for the family's vehicles so that they sit on the driveway getting covered with snow and ice in winter instead of staying warm and dry in the garage. A cluttered garage wastes time as well as space. With a wise choice of garage cabinets and storage options, a wide range of possessions can be organized for easy access and to free space for activities, like a workshop or a home gym. There will even be room for the family car so that the windows do not need to be scraped before driving to work on a cold and dark winter morning. How does one determine a good mix of garage cabinets and storage components? The first step is to determine how much space is available for storage. Without garage cabinets and storage accessories, it is likely that everything in the garage is stored on the floor, but a wise selection of garage cabinets and storage components will allow full use to be made of walls and even of the ceiling, freeing up floor space for other uses. Begin by accurately measuring all walls, including the height of the ceiling, and note the locations of doors, windows, and switches that must remain accessible. After sorting through everything, trash, recycle, donate, or sell anything that is really not worth keeping and see what is left. Particularly useful are components like racks and hooks that get lawn and garden tools, snow shovels, bicycles, and other recreational equipment off the floor and hanging on walls or perhaps even from the ceiling. Heavy, bulky items like perhaps a chainsaw, a generator, or a collection of chemicals for lawn care, cleaning, or vehicle maintenance could be placed on shelves instead of spread over the floor. The proper garage cabinets and storage components can organize a large collection of tools and small parts so that they are compactly stored and easy to find. |
