A white picket fence is commonly thought of as a fence surrounding a family home with children and a dog running around inside. This is a common thought about a white picket fence because it is a common occurrence with a white picket fence. A white picket fence is great to go around an entire yard, around a portion of a yard, or as a decorative corner. There are many styles for a white picket fence and they are also made with different materials. You may want to think about your needs and consider all the different possibilities when deciding which fence would be the right one for your yard.
A white picket fence is a typical traditional fence to have around your home, making it comfortable and welcoming. A picket fence can really boost your curb appeal and make your home a place people will want to come and visit. A white picket fence provides your children and animals with safety, as they cannot get out of the yard as easy if there is a fence surrounding it. You can rest a little easier, knowing that your children might not be able to run out into the road after a ball, or your dog will not be running away any time soon. Also having this type of fence around your yard can provide you with the peace of mind that there is not someone lurking behind the fence, waiting to intrude, because the slats are far enough apart that you can see what is on the other side. If you want the charm of a white picket fence but you do not need it around the entire yard, you can use it to go around a garden or other area of your yard. It can keep children or animals out of your garden, or you can keep chickens or something else inside! Perhaps you do not have any of those needs but you just really like the look of a white picket fence. You can put a small corner of picket fence at the end of your driveway or front sidewalk and it will add some charm to your home.
A picket fence was originally always made out of wood and to keep it white and beautiful a person would need to repaint it every few years. This is still a popular way to go, but there are also other types of white picket fence now, including vinyl and metal. A vinyl picket fence is great for maintenance because it cleans very easily and doesn't wear out or fade from the weather. A metal picket fence is a really sturdy option and if you want it white, you may need to repaint it from time to time.
There are so many reasons to choose a white picket fence and so many different materials and designs to choose from for your fence. Consider using the fence around your entire yard, or a portion of the yard such as a garden, or simply as a decorative corner. You may have real need for a white picket fence, or you might just want the charm of it in your yard. |
