Rowan Williams the Archbishop of Canterbury and head of the Anglican Church arrived at Thiruvanandhapuram with his wife Jane Williams on an eight day visit of the State. He was received by Reverend J.W Gladstone moderator at the Church of South India and other Church leaders. The Archbishop would be staying at the LMS and has a busy itinerary planned during his stay here. His first engagement begins with a breakfast meeting with politicians and church leaders at the LMS followed by a visit to the Kerala United Theological Seminary with his wife. The visit to KUTS assumes special significance to the couple as Jane was born here when her father Geoffrey Paul was serving as a Principal of the Theological College at Kannamoola in the 1960's. The couple will plant a sapling in memoriam of the visit and name the seminary chapel as Geoffrey Paul Chapel.

Other engagements include addressing a women's gathering at KUTS, presiding over the prayer services at the St Joseph's Metropolitan Cathedral at Palayam, convocation address at the Dr Somerville Memorial CSI Medical College, Karakonam, meeting with the head of the Mar Thoma Church at Pattoor, leading the holy communion at the Mateer Memorial church there and delivering the keynote address at the golden jubilee celebrations at the LMS compound.

The Archbishop and family will take a break from their official engagements for a short a holiday at Kumarakom before departing from the State on October 29th.
