| Hello, Winter. Goodbye, Flu. |

Let's be positive. Winter time doesn't need to mean flu time. True, it seems like everyone and their dog lately is getting swine flu, but if you're careful, you can have a fun, healthy winter and stay swine flu-free the whole time. You just need to be careful: After all, the flu doesn't just randomly strike people; you have to actually catch the flu by contracting the germs from an infected person.
We don’t to get neurotic or paranoid about this, so let's try and stay reasonable and practical about this:
1. Wash your hands. That's certainly easy enough. It's easy and it'll reduce your chances of catching or spreading germs DRAMATICALLY. People who neglect to wash their hands, especially after contact with another person or after riding public transportation, end up then touching their nose, mouth, or eyes, or touching food that then goes into their mouth and infecting themselves with the germs that they've unknowingly picked up from being around infected people. And this doesn't just apply to influenza; it applies to the common cold as well, which in the wintertime can get pretty nasty.
2. Be prepared. If you begin to feel a little woozy—you get some chills, some sniffles, and run a fever—you could be coming down with the flu and you'll want to start treatment IMMEDIATELY. You can get anti-flu ( is your best option) that you take at the onset of symptoms. Tamiflu can actually prevent the flu from getting any worse. While you may begin to feel better within a day or two, to make sure you've really thwarted a flu-attack, make sure you take Tamiflu for a full five days. That will ensure your health and safety.
3. Stay positive and focus on health. Eat well, exercise frequently, and smile!
