Every spring the beaches of Florida and Texas are the one-week residence of college students who are getting a break from the books. An estimated 2.5 to 3 million will be basking in the sun this year. They will not only spent plenty of money during that week, but they also represent $125-$130 billion dollars in spending power during the year. Where that much money goes will be determined by effective advertising aimed at them.

Arial banner or billboard advertising is one of the most effective forms of advertising to these students. Aerial ads are simple. Someone hires a company to make a banner and fly a plane over a crowd of people pulling the banner. The banner could be as long as 70 feet and will usually contain contact information such as a phone number or webpage. (Aerial billboard ads are like highway billboards flown over the crowd.) This banner is flown over the gathering several times for one to two hours. It is estimated that the banner is visible for about 17 seconds during each pass. How many times could the idle students read that ad if it passed by, say, 20 times? They will surely have it memorized by that time.

During spring break week students are relaxing and mentally open. They have money to spend during this week of vacation. As they lie on the beach, the drone of a plane catches their attention. They look up and see your ad pulled behind the plane. The company has just made an initial contact with tens of thousands of potential customers.

The aerial ads could offer something they may want to buy when they get back to college. On the other hand, many of the ads are for items they will need immediately, like ads for restaurants or clothing. Here is a wonderful chance to impact one of the largest gatherings of impulsive buyers during the whole year.

Many advertisers, considering the economy and unemployment, consider it a time to cut back. Instead, walk through the door of opportunity packed into one week. The spring break students aren’t thinking about the economy or even the future. They want to have fun and will spend money to make a memory. One tourism expert calls them “recession-proof” since they probably aren’t going to cut their expenses for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

With the addition of electronic communication, sales can be even greater. One merchant flies his phone number over the students and, almost immediately, they are texting their orders to him. Others use G3 networks to make Internet orders. The cost of the advertising is returned quickly and profits follow.

Aerial banners are also not necessary time restricted. You will pay the full cost for the banner ad this year. However, when spring break is over, you can store the banner and use it again next year. Or, with some products, you could fly it over another beach or sporting event. The 70 by 7 feet banners are durable and will last a long time.

Many are pessimistic about advertising while the economy is low. Opportunists are, instead, using aerial advertising to make a profit on the huge crowd that will storm the beaches of Florida and Texas this March.

AirSign has been providing attention grabbing aerial ads through their aerial advertising services around hot vacation destinations since 1996. Call them at 888-645-3442 and ask them to fly your message. It will not be forgotten.
