Urinary tract infections (also known as UTIs, bladder infections, and cystitis) are an uncomfortable condition whereby a bacteria (usually E. coli) infects the urinary tract.
The most common symptom of UTIs is the frequent urgency to urinate, followed by realizing that you don't actually have an urine to dispel. Many people who experience UTIs also complain of painful urination.
UTIs are most common amongst women, but men and young children are also susceptible to these irritating infections.
There are a few things you can do to help a UTI from becoming full blown and to treat a UTI completely:
1. Drink a lot of fluids. As soon as you feel the first symptoms you should begin and then continue drinking all day. If you catch the bacteria early enough, you can actually flush it out before the infection grows. Water should be your primary fluid, although cranberry juice and orange juice are good second and third juice beverages—the acid in these juices helps kill bacteria.
2. Take at least 2,000 mg of vitamin C per day—again, this is because of the acidification.
3. Eat watermelon, parsley, and celery; all three serve as natural diuretics and will help flush out infection.
4. Urinate as soon as you feel the urge. Don't hold it in too long and try to fully empty your bladder at each opportunity you go.
5. Take an antibiotic. You can buy Cipro online from an online farmacia to have on hand, in case you know you are prone to UTIs.
6. Don't have sexual intercourse if you suspect you may have a UTI. Sex can cause further irritation.
