When designing your website, the Unique Value Proposition, or UVP, is one of the most important factors. The UVP sets your website apart from your competitor's website and convinces your visitors that you are the best for your type of business. The UVP not only tells your visitors not only why they should buy from you, but also why they should be on your website in the first place.

Your UVP should be a short statement of about 12 to 15 words that tells your potential customer exactly you are the best option. It should be both believable and truthful. It should inform the visitor who you are and what you have to offer. It should also mention what sets you apart from other companies and why buying from you means better value and a better shopping experience.

UVP should not be confused with a slogan, brand, or promises that you are the best. Too many people make promises and your customer won't believe you anyway. Your UVP should help you make a sale by telling what sets your company apart from other companies. It should tell what is unique to your company without putting down other companies.

Without a UVP, the only thing to differentiate between two companies and price becomes the deciding factor. This means that there will be a price war between you and your competitors and no one will win. It also leaves the market open to new companies who can come in with a UVP and gain your customers.

On the Internet, providing something extra or a benefit that can't be found anywhere else is essential for getting customers. People can't touch or see your products, so you must get their attention in other ways. Your company UVP will tell them why they should buy from you and not from your competitor.

As your company grows and evolves, so should your UVP. The more you can separate yourself from competition, the more successful you will be. Your UVP should be on your home page in a prominent location and every page should reinforce your UVP. Your most popular landing pages should have a strong UVP displayed on them to catch your visitor's attention and keep them on your site.
