Yes, it's that time of year again. It's time to reevaluate your life. It's time to look at your health—both physical and psychological—over the last year and think about how you can work in the next year to improve it.
In general, I don't believe in making achievable goals. I believe that if you make realistic goals, then you'll have a better chance of reaching them.
So here are some easy tips for how to achieve (and maintain) a healthy lifestyle in the coming year:
1. Lose 5 pounds. Not 100, not 30, and not 25. Start small and then add more pounds on to your goal. You'll feel great when you hit that first 5-pound mark that you'll be motivated to keep on going. Taking a diet pill is a great way to help you shed those first few pounds.
2. If you are sexually active, start taking safe sex more seriously. Start taking the pill, stock up on morning after pill for the occasional slip-ups, and make sure overall that you're protecting your body against sexually transmitted diseases and an unwanted pregnancy. 3. Call that therapist that you keep saying you're going to call! Make one appointment…just one…to see if the two of you mesh and you think you could benefit from her expertise.
4. Be kind to yourself more often. Self pity and self-neglect can lead to depression, anxiety, and an overarching sense of malaise.
5. Smile more! That's not too much to ask, is it?
