Punjabi songs have continued to enjoy special attention in the Indian music industry. Easy wordings together with high beat of traditional to contemporary Punjabi songs have made them widely popular among the music lovers of all genres. Punjabi songs are so lively & flexible that it immediately starts to appeal the audiences belonging to any region of the world. Punjabi people in general are upbeat & energetic in nature & their life philosophy is deeply reflected in their songs. Many Punjabi singers like Gurdas Mann, Daler Mehendi, Baba Sehgal, Mika Mehendi & Sukhwinder Singh have gained name & fame in the national & international arena. Punjabi folk songs, Punjabi modern songs, Pop songs & Bhangra songs are some of the widely acknowledged variety of Punjabi songs.

Bhangra songs are a popular Punjabi song variety that is strictly meant to perform dance & with further addition of modern western instruments, traditional drumming & rhythms getting an advance look these days. Bhangra songs actually originated during 1400s from Punjab to help the inhabitants dance & celebrate the harvest season. Since then it has become a part of every celebration & festival in India.

The bhangra dance stays complimentary to the bhangra songs, which is a widely accepted form of Punjabi folk songs. The singer used to sing it in colloquial language of Punjab with the drummer beating a hand held instrument called Dhol & another one playing the flute to the rhythm. Nowadays, its traditional sound is being supplemented with more advance musical instruments & styles.
The fusion of contemporary musical styles such as reggae, house & hip-hop has helped bhangra songs to evolve from a purely conventional form into a more advanced form & drawing more number of people to the dance floor. The most popular fusion is said to be with rap & hip hop which became the preferred option for both European & Indian youth after Punjabi MC from the U.K worked in collaboration with the reputed rapper Jay-Z on a version of one of his Punjabi songs, Mundian To Bach Ke. Music groups like DJ A.P.S. from Canada & the Bombay Rockers from Denmark have already come out with the earliest versions of bhangra songs showing a perfect combination of hip-hop beats & bhangra vocals. In fact, bhangra in these latest styles have been creating a buzz in the whole world & making Indians feel proud of it.
Bhangra songs have been successfully crossed over the language barrier & appreciated a lot by people from the entire world. Its impact is so huge that non-Punjabi people are seen performing popular dance numbers to the rhythm of bhangra songs played in different occasions.
