Real estate agents use them. Dentists use them. And yes, even successful business owners who run multi-million dollar businesses use them. These people take marketing seriously that is why they use postcards in their marketing campaign. If want to achieve the same success these people experience in their marketing program, then it is time you explore the benefits of the humble postcards.

Here is a list of the things you need to consider to get your post card campaign started.

The mailing list, otherwise know as your prospects. Your mailing list is not something you just picked out from someone else’s contact book or the Yellow pages (although they can be good sources). The list should be a result of a thorough research. In order for people to be included in your list, you need to find out who needs the products or services you provide. If you are going to mail to your previous customers, that should not be a problem to you as you already know which products or services they prefer.

But if you are going to generate new customers, that would require some research on your part.

Here are some considerations when preparing your list:

If you are going to rent or buy a list, be sure that you get it from a reputable source.

Be sure that there are no duplications or errors in the names and contact details of the people included in the list.

Ensure that your message if pertinent to the people in the list.

The message and headline. One great advantage of postcard printing is that it is able to generate immediate impact. No envelope to be opened. Your prospects get your message at first glance. This is the reason why your message and your headline should be well written. Keep in mind that readers will only give your card a few seconds to decide whether to keep it or throw it away. In those critical seconds, you need to be able to entice and pull them in. Here is what you need to consider in creating your message and headline:

You need to make sure that your message and headline relate to your target market.

You have to clearly declare the benefits of the products or services you offer.

The message and headline have to be clear, brief, and straight to the point, so your readers will understand what you want to tell them at first glance.

What do you have offer your prospects. Ideally, it is the offer that creates the reply. The first thing that people will ask when considering an offer is what is in it for them. This is why it is important that you present offers that your prospects can actually benefit from. Perhaps you can offer a free consultation if you are a counselor or a discount on some of the software offered if you are a company into software business. Remember that when create an offer make sure that it is pertinent to the products or services you sell as you are looking for qualified customers not freebie hunters.

The strong call to action. This is basically what will point your prospects to your offer. A good strong to action will encourage people to grab on your offer now before it ends. Make sure that your call to action is simple, clear, and generates response immediately. You would not want people waiting for days or weeks to respond to your ad. You want them to act now.
