Translation could be considered as an exciting job wherein you will be able to travel lots and meet new people and could learn about new cultures & custom. This is the trend followed by an experienced person in this field but the situation is not true for a budding translator. They will need to go a long way in order to smell the fruit of success. You must have adequate hold on the target language that you're going to use for translating the original text from the source language. In special cases like Chinese translation, it is really necessary to have a good knowledge of grammar as well as reference materials and dictionaries. The source language should also be nice. You should have excellent grasping capacity to clearly understand the concepts without any change in the meaning even though you may not able to exhibit good writings in the source language.
It will be a wise decision for all aspiring translators to hold a translation degree at any cost. This will help them in getting some work experience in the initial stages even though they may not be able to earn more. The work experience and the degree will always act as an extra benefit in finding a great job in the subject of translation in the future.
