Every few years new things in the world of technology are introduced. Software systems and internet upgrades change the way businesses manage their contacts, run their company, and generally exist in the financial and economic landscape. For example, electronic signatures are changing the way documents are signed and are responsible for making processes faster and more efficient.
This means that if you want your business to progress, you need to make use of all available technologies in your line of business. You cannot rely on the same technology that improved your business three years ago to do the same thing for you now. Even electronic signatures software change algorithm and make security upgrades. You simple cannot expect your company to have the same performance if you do not ride the technology trends. Hiding behind the term “traditional” won’t cut it for your businesses. Clients will either perceive you as a company that is falling behind or one that simply does not have the capacity to give them what they need. Your business needs to get a few upgrades to be considered the best.
1. Netbooks. Notebooks and other portable laptops are a good choice for people who want to bring them to out-of-office meetings. However, while notebooks are good choices because they have more memory and battery life, netbooks are smaller, more portable and can be used for light to medium computing needs. You won’t be editing videos and mixing music during those meetings anyway, so go for a more cost effective option and use netbooks instead. This is especially helpful if you use a lot of cloud-based applications like electronic signatures.
2. Wireless broadband. Wi-Fi is a good option especially if you are on a netbook, but not all places have Wi-Fi access. Whenever you need to access your secure electronic signature over the web, you will need reliable internet service. You cannot really tell a client that before you proceed in electronically signing the document, you have to drive around to look for Wi-Fi spots. Having access to broadband anywhere you are ensures that you will keep your productivity high.
3. Smartphone apps. The trend is to buy cellphones that have access to dedicated apps for its OS. This ensures that you get the productivity tools that you need for your business which can easily be downloaded and used whenever necessary. You can even sync your electronic signatures software to your smartphone and download any compatible apps to help you sign, review and authenticate documents even while you are out of the office.
4. Unified communication (UC). Unified communication systems are becoming more popular because they integrate different kinds of software and form one system. You can use the telephone, access your CRM, chat with employees and clients, keep an address book, schedule your meetings in a unified calendar, and use do other things like storing your secure electronic signature.
5. Online Backing-up. You probably already know that all your data should have backup, but do you actually do it? If you do, a good upgrade will be to go for online backup solutions. Instead of storing your data in hardware that will eventually suffer bit rot, store your data in the cloud. That way, you are always sure that you can access anything from electronic signatures to archived documents whenever you need to.
6. Social media. You need to create an online life for your business. The more visible you are on the web, the more people you attract to your business. When you learn to enhance your business’s online presence, you will find that the network of clients, partners and employees will make your business stronger.
7. Online video. Just like online media, online videos can help you market your business better. You do not even need to buy an expensive camera to start shooting. Sharing those videos on different sites can help your business leverage the power of video marketing. It is a great compliment to your social media efforts.
8. Video conferencing. While most telepresence software can be too expensive for small or medium sized business, there are other video conferencing solutions in the market that offer good service. This is a good way of making a good impression with new clients and with electronic signatures software, you can easily get their signatures while on the video conference.
9. SaaS. People call it different things like on-demand software, hosted applications and cloud computing (although this is a completely different thing), but these types of software work better because they can be accessed from the internet instead of getting a server and rolling out the software to individual users. A lot of electronic signatures software uses this kind of service to make signing easier even when you’re on the go.
10. Online presence. There really is no debate as to whether or not you should have a website. You do. What’s optional is having email marketing, blogs and other online media accounts. Of course social media is important, but the other online media tools will depend on the number of people who use your service and how well these methods can be integrated into your existing business model.
Technology is a tricky thing. It changes and it revolutionizes the way you do business on a regular basis. Keep up with it and you’ll find success.
